Position 1: Research Assistance
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
      
1        Conduct research on project issues and collect data for use by collaborators on writing of studies, policy briefs, and project monographs.
2        Assemble relevant unclassified material including press reports, interviews, government data, documents, and reports.
3       Write summary reports of fora, symposia, and conferences; draft abstracts and/or summaries of books and articles.
4        Proofread and copy edit documents and reports produced by project collaborators.
5       Monitor and summarize current developments in geographic areas of project work.
6      Read sources for relevancy to research themes; compile bibliographies and chronologies.
7        Perform document retrieval using Internet and other online resources.
8       Assist with managing content on project web page.
 
Special Education/Experience Requirements:
         Advanced degree in international affairs or related area required with emphasis on foreign policy, plus 2-4 years relevant work experience.
 
Special Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
1         Background and understanding of international affairs;
2      Superior qualitative research, strong proofreading/editing skills;
3         Proficiency in Internet research and use of database programs;
4        Ability to prioritize in a heavy workload environment.
5         Proficiency in Chinese and English required.
 
Position 2: Administrative Assistance
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
 
1        Coordinate with research partners.
2       Provide administrative coordination for development and management of the office and cooperating groups, including local and regional meetings and outreach.
3     Schedule appointments and make travel arrangements related to project events.
4      Manage logistical arrangements for fora, seminars and conferences at the local, national, and international level.
5        Develop and maintain spreadsheets and databases of relevant officials, experts, journalists, and regional actors involved in project work.
6       Screen calls to determine purpose and nature of requests.
7     Edit copy and proofread; draft, type and edit letters and memos from verbal instruction.
8        Maintain paper and electronic files.
 
Special Education/Experience Requirements:
